Guilty!

He was willing to plead guilty to ABH (section 20) if the prosecution dropped the section 18 "with intent". Since proving intent within our adversarial system would have been very difficult my son was content with his attackers' admission of guilt (even if he denied intent to cause serious harm).

We are going out for a meal this evening to celebrate (steak and salad for me - yummy)

Sentencing will be at a later date. We are looking forward to that and to seeing him 'taken down' - mens' prison is not a place most 18 year olds would relish spending even a single night, never mind months or possibly years.

  1. Interesting! I'm glad that justice was served... maybe not the full measure of what the asshole deserves, but I bet he learns from this. What a crazy prick!
Incidentally, the past week I was a juror on a criminal case, and we submitted our not guilty verdict on the four alleged counts (crimes). While the defendant isn't any angel and could very well find his way back to court next year if he doesn't get his life in order... the prosecution failed to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. No one on the jury was happy about it, and the alleged victim gains nothing by it either way, and I'm glad it's over.
